The screw conveyor reducer is a core component ensuring the stable operation of the equipment. Understanding its warranty policy, usage specifications, and handling methods for common problems is crucial for extending the equipment’s service life and reducing operation and maintenance costs.

Installation
Before installation, check the matching degree between the reducer model and the screw conveyor to ensure that the coaxiality error between the input shaft and the motor output shaft does not exceed 0.1mm, so as to avoid premature damage to the bearing due to eccentricity. The anchor bolts must be evenly tightened to prevent deformation of the housing due to uneven force. After installation, manually rotate the input shaft of the reducer to confirm that there is no jamming, and that the rotation direction of the output shaft is consistent with the operation direction of the conveyor.
Operational Specifications
Before starting, check the oil level of the lubricating oil to ensure that the oil level is between the scale lines of the oil gauge. The oil quality must comply with the manufacturer’s regulations (such as 46# extreme pressure gear oil). The lubricating oil must be replaced after the first 300 hours of use, and then every 1500-2000 hours of operation. During operation, monitor the temperature of the reducer. The temperature rise must not exceed 40℃, and the maximum temperature must not exceed 80℃. If abnormal temperature rise occurs, stop the machine immediately for inspection. It is strictly prohibited to start with materials or run overloaded. Before starting, confirm that there is no material accumulation in the conveyor, and the load during operation must not exceed 110% of the rated power.
Daily Maintenance
Regularly clean the dust on the surface of the reducer to maintain good heat dissipation; check whether the seals are leaking oil, and replace the oil seal in time if oil leakage is found; check the gear meshing situation quarterly, and judge whether there is abnormal noise by listening (such as metal friction sound may indicate gear wear).
Common Problems and Solutions
  • Abnormal Noise
If there is a continuous “buzzing” sound, it may be due to bearing wear or poor lubrication. The bearing needs to be replaced and lubricating oil supplemented; if there is a “clicking” sound, it is mostly due to damage to the gear tooth surface. The machine should be stopped to check the gear meshing situation, and the gear should be replaced if necessary.
  • Oil Leakage
Common causes include aging oil seals, excessive oil filling, or high oil level. Solutions: Replace with oil-resistant oil seals, adjust the oil level to the standard scale, check whether the sealing gasket on the housing joint surface is intact, and replace the sealing gasket and apply sealant if necessary.
Output Shaft Not Rotating or Abnormal Rotating Speed
It may be due to the failure of the connection between the motor and the reducer (such as damaged coupling) or gear jamming. It is necessary to disassemble and inspect the coupling and gears, replace the damaged parts, and at the same time check whether overload is caused by material blockage, clean up the foreign objects in the conveyor before restarting.
  • Overheating
If it is due to insufficient lubricating oil, supplement it to the standard oil level; if the oil quality is deteriorated, completely replace it with new oil; if it is due to overloading, adjust the load to the rated range; if the heat dissipation is poor, clean the heat sink or improve the ventilation environment.

By strictly abiding by the warranty terms, standardizing the usage process, and promptly handling common problems, the operational reliability of the screw conveyor reducer can be effectively improved, the failure rate can be reduced, and the continuity of production can be guaranteed.
