Why AD Iris Valve Stands Out in Industrial Powder Regulation?

Posted on March 25, 2025

In the world of industrial equipment, the AD iris valve by Zhejiang AKMK Automation Co., Ltd. has been making waves, especially in the realm of powder handling. Zhejiang AKMK Automation Co., Ltd. is a well – respected name in the industry, having established itself in China and gradually growing into a global developer and manufacturer of high – quality mixing station accessories, equipped with an R & D center.

The AD series iris valve, a type of aperture valve, is one of the company’s remarkable products, with a primary focus on handling  powders. It plays a crucial role in controlling the opening and closing of the free – flowing dry powder flow in the direct – drop system. This valve has found applications across a wide range of industries that deal with powders, including chemicals, dairy, food, mining, plastics, and pharmaceuticals.

One of the key features of the AD series is its double – diaphragm design, which is highly beneficial for powder applications. This makes it an ideal choice for in – line applications as it effectively prevents any powder leakage to the atmosphere, keeping the working environment clean and safe. All body parts of the valve are crafted from either stainless steel or aluminum, ensuring durability and resistance to the abrasive nature of many powders and various working conditions.  Stainless – steel triggers and 316 stainless – steel screws are used to combat corrosion, adding to the valve’s long – lasting performance even when in contact with different powders.

The AD aperture valve has a wide range of uses specifically tailored for powders. It can be used for unloading bulk powder bags, where it tightens the neck of the material bag to cut off the powder flow precisely. It serves as an outlet valve for silos, bins, hoppers, and chutes storing powders and can be applied in in – line applications for powder transfer. Additionally, it is suitable for discharging powders from sifters, ribbon mixers, and double – cone blender outlets, as well as for manual bagging of powders that require frequent operation and controlling the discharge of powders from containers into weigh hoppers.

With a nominal bore size ranging from 80mm to 450mm, the AD series offers flexibility in different powder handling setups. The valve has multiple notches, which enhance flow control of powders, allowing for precise regulation. Hand – wheel operation is available for sizes from 150mm to 300mm, making it easy to manage powder flow manually. The iris diaphragm can be adjusted on – site, significantly reducing maintenance time, which is crucial for continuous powder processing. The full – bore diaphragm opening ensures that there is no restriction to powder flow, preventing clogging, and the valve is not prone to mechanical wear from abrasive powders. What’s more, the diaphragms and liners are easy and inexpensive to replace, making the valve operation and maintenance a breeze in powder handling environments.
